Cascades Club Race Night : Safety Information

Race Night Safety

The following rules apply to every racenight event

  • IF there are enough people who are over the age of 18 who turn out for racenight AND a minimum of 2 people are willing to be assigned administrative duties (starting the race, running the safety boat, timing, etc): THEN we will proceed with the Racenight event with a safety boat and various people performing those race duties. The person in the safety boat will have no other duties - they will not start the race and will not be timing the participants.
  • If a Cascades Coach and his/her paddlers (under age 18) are participating AND we have a minimum of 3 people available for administrative duties, THEN we will proceed with the Racenight event and we will use 2 safety boats with one boat dedicated to the underage paddlers. The people in the safety boats will have no other duties - same as above.
  • Anyone under the age of 18 MAY NOT PARTICIPATE in racenight unless they have a supervising coach in the employ of the Cascades Club responsible for the safety of those "under 18" paddlers.
  • If there are NOT enough people to perform the administravie duties as described above (safety boat, starter, timer, recording results), THEN the racenight event will be cancelled for that day.

For ALL Race Night races:

Canadian Requirements for Small Boats are in effect for Racenight races. At least one Cascades Club motor boat will be available as a "safety boat". In addition to the Transport Canada regulations, we require that you must have a life jacket in your boat - plus if you're not old enough to vote, you MUST wear your life jacket.

For more safety information, please refer to: Transport Canada Regulations
